This page explains how to delete your Amara account and what happens to your information when you do.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account from inside the Amara app:

1. Open Amara and sign in.

2. Go to Settings (from your profile tab, tap the menu icon in the top right).

3. Scroll all the way to the bottom. Delete Account is the last option, next to Log Out.

4. Type DELETE to confirm.

If you cannot access the in-app option for any reason (for example, you can no longer sign in), email us at support@amarasocial.com from the email address on your Amara account and we will process the deletion for you.

What Happens When You Delete

When you delete your account:

• Your profile, posts, comments, messages, and other content you created are removed from public view in the Amara app.
• Your account enters a short reversal window (typically up to 30 days). During that window the deletion can be undone if you sign back in. After the window closes, the deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
• Direct messages you sent to other users may remain visible to those users in their own message histories. Public engagement signals (such as anonymized likes and views) may be retained as part of aggregate analytics.

What We May Retain

We may retain certain information after deletion when we are required or permitted to do so by law, including:

• Records needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Information related to safety, fraud, abuse, or violations of our Community Guidelines, retained for the period necessary for those purposes.
• Backup copies that are retained for a limited time and deleted on a regular schedule.
